NewYork Fashion Week 2024 S/S collection

About this Runway

In this 2023 Spring/Summer season that characterizes the after-corona, the vitality of the baby's first cry and heartbeat inspired the designer Naoko Tosa. A baby's first cry brought life to the collection, expressing the state of a lively society that has overcome the coronavirus. She established a stateless and stylish fashion style by fusing the Wabi-Sabi elements of Japanese culture with technology. The new 24 look consists entirely of a set-up or a suit. It presents the Sound of Ikebana Fashion, which was born from sound and cannot be seen with the naked eye, along with the story of Iwatogakure of the Japanese god Amaterasu, included in the Kojiki, Japanese mythology. The younger brother of Amaterasu, Susanoo, is a rambunctious and mischievous boy who wears the traditional Japanese attire, Kataginu. The baby's first cry is also naughty. The following fashion features a fresh perspective design with passionate flames representing Susanoo, and a striking black-and-white contrast set-up will appear. Amaterasu hides in a cave with the tail of her patient bag cut off. Then, Susanoo changes his heart and walks down the runway in a tailored suit with blue clouds. After that, girls appear dressed in soft fabric dresses, shimmering fabrics, and gorgeous embellishments that sparkle in the light. A shrine maiden dances, prays and creates a big entertainment. Invited by the joyful atmosphere, Amaterasu's clothes change from a color palette that evolves from pure black, through pastel pinks and greens, to bright gold. In the finale, Amaterasu in a modern Kimono (drawing) appears, which is a splendid ending.

On the back of the runway, a giant LED screen shows the process of creating a splashing form using the baby's first cry, filming it, turning it into a video, and making it into the runway clothes. And the models are wearing clothes, which creates a dreamy space.
